Tablet Sales To Surpass PCs

Years ago, netbooks, netbooks and laptops were poised to be more popular than desktop computers. The tech world understands that as consumers look for more mobile connectivity options, it is up to developers to provide them with realistic solutions. Microsoft may have created the tablet, but Apple is responsible for raising the bar yet again. With the iPad 3 already in development, industry analysts believe that more than 20 million tablets will be sold in 2012. Apple is expected to take the lion’s share of the wealth in smartphone, tablet and computer sales.

Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook says that tablet sales will soon out sell the PC. Consumers are responding enthusiastically with each release of a new tablet. It appears that tablets have become the technology’s new solution for techies that wanted something more substantial than the smartphone, but smaller than the standard sized computer. When the iPad first debuted, the big question was, “just what do you do with this thing?” Sure, it was sleek, fast and incredibly advanced, but it’s odd shape and cumbersome designed made it look like something straight out of a science fiction movies. Apparently, consumers knew exactly what to do with it.

The iPad has come so popular that a teenage boy in China willingly sold one of his kidneys to get one. Not all tech fans are willing to go that far, but it is an indicator that Cook just might be right. Tablets may not replace computer, at least not immediately.
