3D TV Manufacturers Go After Gaming Industry

However well 3D TVs are selling, consumers are not all that interested in the technology. Most TV viewers that replace their older model television sets are actually interested in features other than graphics. Apparently, most LCD, LED, plasma and 3D TV sets are purchased because users want to connect to the web and get better lighting. That means that 3D TV manufacturers such as Sony have to come up with a different strategy. Now, it seems like Sony’s most attractive market is actually within the gaming sector.

Avid gamers are absolutely obsessed with graphics. In addition to wanting to play the latest game titles on the biggest television sets, game players want to see the characters come to life. In response, Sony debuted a 3D TV bundled package that features everything that appeals to gamers. By including new video games and all of the peripherals needed in one convenient package, Sony is hoping that gamers will start to buy. The bundle was featured at the E3 conference, an event where thousands of gamers converge to get the latest on the gaming industry.

Other 3D TV manufacturers have offered similar packages. New 3D movie titles and 3D glasses have long been sold by retailers such as Best Buy, but consumers are becoming much more savvy. Pricing is everything, and 3D TVs are very expensive. Adding a complimentary copy of a movie or video game is nice, but consumers will begin to respond when they see that they are getting a great value for an even better price.
